I have always been enamored by the Spanish language. It all started back in seventh grade Spanish class and developed with every family vacation to Mexico. I continued my Spanish education all through college too, I hoped to get a minor in this romantic language but the opportunity to graduate with my Bachelor's in Mathematics a year early took priority. There is a plus side to this, now I have time to travel! Since I was too focused on finishing my degree I never got the opportunity to study abroad so I decided to take matters into my own hands, with the help of my wonderful mother of course. I found an opportunity with a program called Barcelona Study Abroad Experience to not study abroad but rather intern abroad! After much research I finally committed. My internship placement is at a school called Escola Sagrada Familia. It is a catholic school only 15 minutes from where I am living! I am primarily going to be assisting the Math teachers with students ages 12-14. Im excited because they use iPads in the classroom! (Hopefully I get to borrow one) I also have the opportunity to help out in the Spanish classrooms and also the Entrepreneurship classes. My internship is only 20 hours a week so I have plenty of time to enjoy myself and explore! I plan on traveling to Sevilla, Madrid, Paris, and London while I am there. I also am living with a host mother. She lives in a 3 bedroom apartment on the fifth floor of a building in a neighborhood called Gràcia. I do not know much about her but I am excited to meet her and learn more about her. She will be cooking me breakfast and dinner everyday. I am so excited but also nervous to try new foods. Hopefully she even teaches me how to make some popular dishes so I can make them when I come back home. I am abroad for only 90 days because that is how long I can stay without needing a visa. I will be home November 21st, just in time for turkey day!!
